THE MANVILLE SAW MILL

DSC04008

THIS IS A PHOTOGRAPH FROM THE PHOTO ARCHIVES OF NEAL RANAURO. ALONG WITH THE 2 FOLLOWING THE POST IT WAS DATED 1920

According to the retrospective notes of Neal Ranauro. The Saw Mill in Manville existed “Between The Elks & Christ The King” if he meant the Church, it would have basically spanned all the was down Brooks Blvd. down to at least North 4th Avenue. He could of course, also meant “Christ the King School” which is just a stones throw away from the Elks Lodge. At the moment I am not aware of the mill’s name, or who owned it… but this is a lesser know part of Manville history and these are some great photos, so I figured I’d post them here. If anyone has any more info on this please contact me.

    • There was a lumberyard across fromm the Church where the post office is now. Wasn’t it a Somerset Farms Covenience Store back in the 70’s? I remember the lumberyard burning back in the late 60’s early 70’s.
